We decided to check out the 4th annual Dogapalooza at Flat 12 Bierwerks and check out their progress on the remodel as well as some of the new beers they are offering. We here at IndianaBeer are huge pet lovers and I enjoy being able to attend these types of events. The VCA Animal Hospital was there with giveaways and raffles for small and large dogs. Bentley’s Pet Stuff had some samples and treats for your furry friends. City Dogs gave away treat bags. Paws and Think had 3 adorably sweet dogs out looking for their “Furever home” – named Pizzeria, Wallaby and Kingsley. Pizzeria found his family!!
S.O.A.R. initiative was there and I heard that they had Yorkie and Raven. Yorkie went home with his new family and Raven went home with a family to see if she was a right fit. So dogs got adopted & People brought donations all while enjoying great beer. What a beautiful thing.
Flat 12 is in the process of their remodel and so far it is looking great. They have a nice big bar that looks great plus new taps and mirrors behind the bar. They are still working on the growler fill room which should be done by June 22nd for their taproom grand reopening celebration!
I really enjoyed their Blackberry Berliner Weisse made with real blackberry; it was tart but not too tart. It is 4.3% and 6 IBU. I also really like the Violet B. Wit, a Sour Belgian Wit with blueberry at 4.5% and 21 IBU – part of the sourwerks limited release series. I also enjoyed the Psycho Gose Beast, a traditional Leipzig Gose, at 4.
5% and 9 IBU; it has a nice salty and tart balance. I also had a few sips of the Marocain a honey rye IPA it is at 7% and 60 IBU; the honey makes it smooth.
We are looking forward to seeing Flat12’s completed remodel and where they are headed with their new ownership. So far it is looking great!
