2008 German-American Klub's Oktoberfest
After 33 years in German Park on Indianapolis’ south side, The German-American Klub's Oktoberfest has moved to the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The event is being held at the fairgrounds’ Agriculture/Horticulture building and the adjacent parking lot from 4 p.m. to midnight Aug. 29–31 and Sept. 5–6. There is music, dancing, carnival rides and games like Bingo and Monte Carlo as well as German food and beer. Food choices include frikadellen (German hamburgers), bratwurst, knachwurst, sauerkraut and German-style potato salad. The pretzel feeds four. A wide variety of bottles can be had as well as Warsteiner Dunkel, Pils, and Oktoberfest on draught. Plan to bring a fat wallet however as parking is 3 dollars, entrance is 6, and one of those big beers is 12 (with refills for 8). Despite the steep prices, we had a nice time at this family friendly event. Here are some photos...
