Planetary in Greenwood opens new Tap Room

Planetary’s new Taproom

It took a lot of labor and a lot of time but Planetary now has a new taproom in downtown Greenwood on the West side of Madison Avenue, at 188 S. Madison Ave, just 1/2 block south of West Main Street.  Their current hours are Thursdays 4-9pm, Friday 4-10pm, Saturday 2-10pm and Sunday Noon-6pm.  As with most builds, this has taken quite awhile but is  a great gathering place, better than the tasting room at the brewery.  Growler fills will transfer to this location except on Sunday (since they don’t brew here, they can’t fill here on Sunday #indianalaw).

The Taproom has ample table  seating upstairs and down and if allowed they would be family friendly but authorities have not approved the design so 21+ for now.

The tap list will vary but they post on Facebook.

Spacious room, cool lights

Microcosm Pale Ale, 5.3 40 IBU, with decent resin and floral notes

Planetary Bavarian Hybrid, 4.5%, 14 IBU,  a slight weizen with a tang in a farm house direction

Elstree bourbon bbl old ale 7.5%, 38IBU, light colored ale with nice light bourbon flavor

Recently they brought back their Astro-Combs hefeweizen 5.5%, 18 IBU

Andrew Groves is founder and Doug Goins, well-known bartender at Shallo’s, has been along since the beginning.  Recently Doug handled the build and Andrew kept the beer going.  Frequent rotation has helped them generate a lot of fans.

I remember March 2013 being there on day one at the brewery tasting room opening in the Polk Industrial park.  This is a great addition two and a half years later to have a nice taproom space in the heart of Greenwood.
