Releases from Upland, Sun King, Daredevil and more

Upland released three special beers to their Barrel Society and now to the public starting March 30.

Oak Timbre is blonde ale aged for 6 months on Chambourcin grapes in new oak barrels. The word timbre actually means musical pitch so it could mean this beer really sings or it could be a sly reference to the wood. This beer comes in a 750 ml corked bottle at $25.

Blackberry is a Belgian-style sour aged with whole blackberries from Fortville, IN, and bottle conditioned. Also in a 750 ml corked bottle at $25.

Barrel Chested Brewers Reserve aged the delicious (author’s opinion) Upland barleywine for 17 months in bourbon barrels. This offer is a wax-dipped 500 ml bottle for $15.

Sun King’s Patio Smasher is part of the King’s Reserve series as an American Wild Ale from multiple sources of wild yeast then aged over peaches. It promises tart peach as their March Release. Sun King’s Diddy Muckle, the Scottish Ale on whiskey barrels, is up next in April.

Mad Anthony released These Boots New England IPA as a collaboration with the Pink Boots Society of women brewers. It was available starting March 27 at all Mad Anthony locations in Northeast Indiana.

Daredevil Brewing released an experimental IPA called Go For Launch featuring citra and mosaic hops (think Spacex and NASA) on draft and in limited cans at their brewery in Speedway and their new Daredevil Hall in the Nora area.

Saint Joseph Brewery in Indianapolis, the only one in a church in Indy, celebrates a classic event with Half Note Haze, a hazy pale ale. This toasts the final performances for what some call the Super Bowl of piano, The American Pianist Awards, a gala finale on Saturday, April 6, at the Hilbert Theater. Tickets are as low as $10 for seniors, $20 for others (Mezzanine) to see finalists perform twice each along with video and awards that night. More information HERE

Bier Brewery Released Trippy Hop Drop using 13 hop varieties and a triple dry-hop brew delivering pineapple notes with a wallop of flavor. It’s on tap at both Bier locations and in cans where Bier (well, Bier beer seems redundant) is found.

Taxman Brewing, Bargersville and Fortville, released Hop Audit: Mosaic on tap at both locations and in 4-pack cans. This beer, part of the Hop Audit series of Belgian IPAs, has complex pepper of the Belgian yeast with the super citrus of Mosaic Hops.
