Okay, we know most sites go down for maintenance and often from like 2AM to 4AM, when I am certainly not checking! Ours went down for a more prolonged period. But we’re back and with news!
Upland Brewing Company recently remodeled their Tap Room at the Upland Production facility in Bloomington, (4060 Profile Pkwy.) This remodel added extra space and makes the inviting tap room, which is about 5 minutes from the brewpub most people know about, a very inviting local hangout with ten beers on tap.
Upland also releases two sour ales in February—Peach and Iridescent. These are both whole fruited sours from small-batch experiments. Both will be on tap at Upland locations as well as select bars and restaurants while Peach can be found in 750 ml bottles and Iridescent in 500 ml bottles where select Upland sour ales are found. Pete Batule, VP of Brewery Operations at Upland passed along, “Our box truck— typically used to deliver beer, made several trips to pick up peaches from our friends at Huber Orchard & Winery in Starlight, Indiana.
This year, we hand processed 7,000 pounds of peaches spanning three weeks, equating to 2.5 pounds of fruit per gallon of beer (or a half pound per 750mL bottle).”
Sun King is celebrating February as Customer Appreciation Month. They released a limited supply of Grapefruit Jungle at their tap room and they have discounts of 10% off certain items (apparel, head-wear, beer gear) each week! They have $5 growler fill every February Thursday of house beers, Sunlight Cream Ale, Wee Mac Scottish Ale, Osiris Pale Ale PLUS $1-off Pint Deals every February Sunday at the Downtown Indy Brewery location and every February Tuesday at the Sun King Fishers Tap Room.
Flat12 celebrated their sixth anniversary with the release of a Buffalo Trace Barrel Aged Pogue’s Run Porter! While those were limited edition they have been featuring their The 12th Belgian Triple and Bleeding Heart IPA. On February 28th they celebrate their annual Flat Tuesday Party with a live feed from Bourbon Street on the big screen, a Mardi Gras themed beer release, Hoagies and Hops Cajun menu and the George Schatzlein quartet will be playing NOLA jazz at their Indy Taproom.
Oh… and a beer float?
Cannonball Brewing opened at 17th and Bellefontaine St. on the near north side of Indy back in November. We were there for their grand opening. To read that story, click here I stopped by again recently to find a nearly packed house and Chef Erin serving up a beer float. She mixed gourmet ice cream with their Bellfontaine Bourbon Vanilla Stout (which I sampled a glass of and truly enjoyed). I did not try the float concoction but the woman who did let me snap a quick picture! Cannonball opens at 4:00 Wednesday – Friday, and 1:00 on Saturday and Sunday (closed Monday & Tuesday)
